Umag is without doubt the number one tennis destination in Croatia and possibly the Mediterranean.The Croatian Tennis Academy is based within the stunning Stella Maris Stadium in Umag, the home of the ATP Croatia Open. Here in Umag you will have access to more than 60 first class tennis courts open between March and November. Top quality, internationally experienced coaches can be provided to work with you to create an outstanding training program for all age groups and abilities.
Tennis in Umag & The Umag Tennis Academy
When you think of Croatian tennis you automatically think of Goran Ivanisevic, who is Croatia’s most famous tennis player and one of the partners of the Umag Tennis Academy. The Tennis Academy has a total of 26 tennis courts featuring four indoor and eight outdoor floodlit courts. Goran Ivanišević along with his highly experienced team of tennis coaches provide low and high intensity tennis coaching suitable for all levels of play. The academy provides tennis schools and tennis camps for a variety of different age-groups and uses contemporary training methods focusing on all elements of play. Special programs are also provided for groups of younger children. Within the resort of Umag, there are over 60 tennis courts along with tennis clubs who are eager to play tennis compititions against British teams. Whilst on your tennis club holiday, we will arrange two fixtures against local clubs where you can expect first class facilities.
Sol Garden Istra Hotel
The Sol Garden Istra hotel has become one of the premier hotels in the region due to good standards of accommodation, its proximity to the beach and the new Aqua Park (fee payable), which is adjacent to the hotel. Situated just a few minutes walk from the hotel is the Umag Tennis Academy and the “Sports Art Centre” which provides a wide range of football, basketball, handball and volleyball fields. The hotel is also located just 250 meters from the sparkling clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, where you can hire boats, go scuba diving, para sailing and windsurfing, alternatively if you would prefer to relax then we recommend a visit to the modern Wellness Centre where you can enjoy the magnificent Spa services including massage rooms, saunas, whirlpools, relaxation lounges, fitness centre and an indoor pool.
Classic rooms are suitable for either three persons (two adults and one child), or alternatively if you prefer just two adults. Each room features a king size bed as well as an additional sofa bed, (perfectly suitable for a child.) These spacious rooms also feature a flat-screen TV, mini-bar, desk, safe and a bathroom along with a spacious balcony which over looks the hotel gardens below.

Without doubt, one of the most popular foods from this region is the Istrian ham (Prosciutto), This dried ham has been part of the Istrian cuisine for centuries and can be found in many restaurants around the Umag resort. Prosciutto is prepared in a unique way by using only fresh air to cure the meat, resulting in a supreme texture and flavour, this ham is often served with cheese and bread as an appetizer with a glass of wine, as a starter or as a main dish itself.
Activities in Umag
Umag is a superb little city and is the westernmost city of Croatia. Being right on the coast makes this an ideal destination for getting out into the water and exploring, whether thats with a snorkel or with a professional diving school. Other exciting activities in the area which are a must include the city tour on-board a segway!
